Our Story
Once upon a time, a group of lifelong friends, bound by their love for music, found themselves sitting together in the Texas hill country. The setting was perfect—rolling hills, a bubbling creek, a crackling fire and the gentle hum of nature providing the ultimate backdrop. As they reminisced about the concerts they had attended, the songs that shaped their lives, and the joy music brought them, an idea began to take shape.
"What if we could share this feeling with others?" one of them mused. "Not just for ourselves, but for something bigger."
It was in that moment, led by the passion of the soulful artist Jimmy LaFave among them, that the concept of an annual music festival was born. They envisioned a place where people could come together to celebrate music, friendship, and community, all while giving back to a cause dear to their hearts—children's charities.
Under a pitched tent, the first year was small, intimate, and magical. A few local bands, some homemade food, and a handful of eager attendees ready to support a meaningful cause. Word spread quickly, and with each passing year, the festival grew. A permanent pavilion was established, becoming the new home for both bands and patrons. Musicians joined in, eager to lend their talents to something so pure and heartfelt. Vendors, volunteers, and sponsors soon followed, each adding their own unique touch to the festival's charm.
Before they knew it, what started as a simple idea among friends had blossomed into an annual tradition, drawing music lovers from near and far. Built on a foundation of artist satisfaction, the friends aimed to create an experience that would be equally enjoyable for both artists and patrons. Today, the festival welcomes over 2,500 attendees, all united by the same passion and purpose—to enjoy incredible music while making a tangible difference in the lives of children in need.
Despite its growth, the heart of the festival remains unchanged. It still takes place in the exact spot where those friends first sat and dreamed, a testament to their unwavering belief in the power of music and generosity. And every year, as the sun sets over the festival grounds, they gather once more, reflecting on how far they've come and looking forward to the future, filled with music, love, and hope.
RIP Jimmy LaFave, may his legacy live on.
RIP Grande Juan, our dear extraordinary friend.
